Wakefest Ball! Bring an exercise ball down to the Farmer’s Market and take part in the annual Wakefest Ball! Physical theatre and dance instructor Peter Ryan, most currently from Guerilla Heart Juice, will put you through your paces to a live orchestra!
Basic Silkscreening w/ Rob Scott of Wakefield Arts Collective (WAC)- Donation
Saturday, Various Times – Festival tent outside Le Moo Ice Cream Shop
Rob Scott will walk you through the steps on how to make a very basic silkscreen. He’ll go through the materials needed and where to get them and troubleshoot the process. Bring your own t-shirt and print your own Wakefest logo.
Writing w/ Brian Doyle and Joan Fitzgerald McCurdy – Young Adult $20

Focusing on story writing. Participants will be split into two – half with Brian Doyle and the other half with Joan; and then after an hour the participants will swap authors.
Clown w/ Nick Di Gaetano of ¡Mi Casa! Theatre $20

An afternoon clown workshop for actors both new to clown and with experience in the genre. Come and get the skinny on one of ¡Mi Casa!’s most useful and beloved tools for both playing and creation! Flex your acting muscles as we explore the flop, the pleasure of play and games and the joy of being ridiculous!

Poetry w/ Shane Rhodes – Writing what matters: Ways into a poem $20

Shane Rhodes has published poetry, essays and reviews in magazines, journals and newspapers across Canada. The 2008 Ottawa Book Award winner, will look at the many ways we can think about poetry, read poetry, and start to write poetry. The workshop will be structured around readings of poetry, discussions and writing exercises to explore where words can take you.
Performance w/ Nadia Ross STO Union – Attention: Real Time on Stage $20

Nadia Ross is the workshop facilitator and artistic director for STO Union, an award winning theatre company presenting new creation-based works. In this workshop, we will look at some of the very basic tools we use at STO Union when working with performers. This workshop is an abbreviated version of our regular workshop and is open to anyone interested in the interplay between meditation and creativity.
Sounds and Words w/ Alexis O’Hara – Unconventional Approaches to Songwriting $10

Interdisciplinary artist Alexis O’Hara will give you a bird’s eye view of her evolution as a stage performer and recording artist. She’ll reveal her secrets for creating a one-woman-band sound with just a microphone and a small array of electronics. Bring something that makes a sound that is not a musical instrument and together, the group will create a short musical piece.
